The Metabones Speed ​​Booster works like a teleconverter or focal doubler, but backwards. A 2x converter increases the focal length by losing 2 full EVs, transforming a 70-200mm f / 2.8 into 140-400mm f / 5.6. The Metabones Speed ​​Booster reduces the focal length with a 0.71x ratio and saves a speed stop, which means that a 70-200mm f / 2.8 lens will therefore become a 50-142mm f / 2. At most, an objective opening at f / 1.2 will become an objective at f / 0.9.

The Speedboster therefore reduces the Crop Factor and increases the angle of view and the maximum aperture. Some hybrids, such as the Panasonic GH4 have 2x Crop Factor photos and approx. 2.3x in video (GH5 = 2x in photo and video). A 70-200mm f / 2.8 mounted on a Panasonic GH4 will become (in 4K video) a 114.3-326.6mm f / 2.
The Speed ​​Booster has 5 elements in 4 groups, incorporating tantalum-based optical glass with a very high refractive index for extraordinary optical performance: improved corner sharpness, reduction of distortion and vignetting.
The Metabones mount converter allows you to mount Canon EF / EF-S lenses on a Micro 4/3 mount (MFT) body such as the Panasonic GH4, GH5, Blackmagic Pocket Cinema, and others while keeping the autofocus, aperture control via the camera, stabilization and EXIF ​​data of certain compatible optics.

Removable foot collar
