Description
-
The Sound Devices 442 is a professional 4-input portable audio mixer designed for audio mixing in film, ENG / EFP, video and broadcast applications. The mixer has 4 balanced 3-pin XLR inputs that can accept a microphone and a line signal (user switchable on each input). The output stage has stereo XLR (L / R) outputs with switchable microphone, line or -10 dB output impedance.
Each input has a dedicated "direct output", which is used to distribute audio to external devices. + 48V, + 12V and + 12V-T phantom power is available and individually switchable on each channel. Each channel has limiter and low cut filter selectors as well as volume, gain and pan controls. Channels 1 and 2 can be linked for stereo monitoring or M-S stereo decoding. The unit is powered by 4 AA alkaline batteries or by an external 5-18 V DC power supply. Specifications

4 balanced XLR inputs: The flexibility of the mixing console begins with its 4 balanced XLR inputs. The 4 inputs are individually switchable to accept line or microphone level signals.
Direct outputs: Each input has a dedicated output via TA3 connectors. Direct outputs are ideal for transmitting an individual channel signal to external devices.
M-S decoding: Channels 1 to 2 can be linked for stereo capture and M-S stereo monitoring. Channel 1 includes a phase inverter.
Variable gain: Continuously variable gain allows level bypass on each channel, resulting in a higher signal-to-noise ratio.
Variable Low Cut Filter: Continuously variable low cut filter selectors are located on each channel, eliminating low frequency noise between 80 and 240 Hz
Peak Limit: Input and output peak limiters eliminate signal overload which can cause noise and distortion.
